The Lincoln Club was founded in Los Angeles in 1921, with the support of the President’s son Robert Todd Lincoln, “to commemorate the life of Abraham Lincoln and to perpetuate the ideals and principles which he exemplified.”
Each year, the Club’s members and guests gather for a formal dinner in downtown Los Angeles to listen to a distinguished public figure on a topic related to Abraham Lincoln.
Following the speaker’s remarks, the dinner concludes with a dimming of the lights as the Gettysburg Address is delivered.
